Colour of the Year
During the course of the year we are very lucky to be given the opportunity to be involved with, and host a range of exciting industry events. This month our Allermuir Showroom in London was transformed into a creative laboratory of trends, colours and crowds of creative people, all attending to be amongst the first to witness the reveal of Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2020.
From the catwalk and into our interiors, throughout September London is filled with people and pop up events celebrating design, colour and fashion. During this time a number of key events including London Design Week and London Fashion Week take place, shaping industry trends of 2020.
In recent years large interior and design brands have joined these celebrations and revealed their very own predictions on the styles, colours and designs that the coming year shall bring.
On September 10th Marianne Shillingford, the Creative Director of Dulux was joined by over 60 people from theA&D community at our London showroom. Here she introduced Dulux’s Colour of The Year 2020 - Tranquil Dawn.
Tranquil Dawn's green hue is meant as a nod to elements of the natural landscape – Marianne compared the colour to "the space between the land and sky".
"A new decade heralds a new dawn and the hazy pale green tones of Tranquil Dawn are calming and comforting just when we need it most in our lives" she added.
Guest speaker, Oliver Heath - A sustainable Architecture and Interior Designer then took to the stage and spoke about choices of colour within the workplace. Without unravelling too much of the science behind how we process colour, Oliver discussed how by simply selecting a specific colour we can actually improve our daily lives.
Perhaps we can expect the tranquil trend to continue through 2020. Empowering spaces to remain simple and natural, whilst promoting greater wellbeing and calmness. If so, envision natural materials, quiet colours, minimal decorative details, biophilic designs and the incorporation of health promoting furniture.
